The headlights in the 02 are not good. I have found two kits from “Dapper Lighting” and I am ready to pull the trigger on one. So lighting pros and other Oppos with oppinions... What say ye?

- Which is an LED setup that is meant to look light the original lights. This the way I am leaning as the they are on “pre-sale” and I’m not in love with the projector look on a car from 1975.
However, I’m not thrilled with being a guinea pig for a new product. Also, it is my understanding that HIDs are better/brighter than LEDs. I also haven’t had great luck with about 50% of my LED projects (probably due to cheap LEDs).

^ which is of course the first gif google fed me for “easy A”, as in, I think the choice is easy, go with A
as you noted, the second option will likely look out of place in your more classic mobile

I’ve been looking at upgrading to projectors like these:
They take normal H4s, and if you really want LED down the line and have space behind the housing, you can get H4 LEDs with either base-mounted or external resistors.

I think he only answer is a pair of vintage Carello fog/driving lights to help illuminate the paths ahead.

welp if you dont like the projectors... you really have no choice me thinks
but if you trust the brand enough to consider projectors from them me finks the original looking ones will be fine too

I like that idea, and a lot of 02's have extra driving lights and they look sweet. However, mine has the bumpers removed and a painted aftermarket front air dam. I really like the way it looks up front I can’t see a good way to add lights.

Whichever you choose, please make sure they are aimed correctly and don’t have a pattern that throws up a wall of blinding light to oncoming traffic. Aftermarket LED and HIDs are infamous for being terrible in the latter regard. Personally, I’m old enough that driving with plain old sealed beam halogens is a nostalgic experience .

I’d want to see the beam pattern on those LED headlights before dropping $300. I converted the sealed beam on my Honda to an H4 LED for $15. It’s brighter, but the pattern is still a bit shitty. I’d want to make sure they engineered a new lens and not just convert a sealed beam to an LED bulb.

Are those 7"? I am in the same situation. Check the amp rating of the new bulbs to see if your car has enough power. I think my old sealed beams are 45 w newer ones are 60 or so, divided by 12=amp hours 4 amps vs 5 amps isnt that big but the original generator on my car only put out something like 30 amps while driving. At idle I would expect them to dim a bit (my car has never run so I have no real world experience ).

Yes, they are 7". My stock lights dim at idle so I’m sure that is going to be a problem I will need to address regardless of what lights I choose.

I like the A option, but only because of how they look. I know nada about swapping lights, or the best ones to go with.
The 02 looks great BTW!

I put plain ol ( sort of updated) Sylvania halogen sealed beams in my Jaguar recently. Still not amazing but much better than the ancient ones that were in there.
TR6 needs something better than the ancient sealed beams and it takes 7” also so I’ll be interested to see what you go with.
